During the Christmas period there is a consistent spike in numbers of those searching for properties online and a recent Rightmove survey has supported the claim that Christmas is the optimum time to sell.
The survey found that more than a million users were browsing the site on Christmas Day 2014 and a peak of three million visited Rightmove on the first working day of this year.
Ian Marriott, associate director at West Bridgford’s FHP Living, is urging those considering to sell their home to act now to ensure a sale early in the New Year.
He said: “Marketing properties in the run up to Christmas has proven to be a successful tool – buyers are looking to seal a deal early in the New Year to start the year afresh so sellers are in a particularly strong position.
“The strength of the selling market is due to a lack of good quality housing stock in the area. There is a healthy demand for properties which is simply not being supplied so it is the ideal time for sellers to put their house on the market.
“Even at this time of the year there is still a need for properties on the market which is driving up house prices in West Bridgford and the surrounding areas, so I would encourage anyone considering a move to act quickly rather than wait until the New Year and make the most of the current housing market situation.”
23% of sales have been agreed within seven days with the West Bridgford-based estate agency.
“We have a dedicated team to ensure a swift sale before Christmas. This means that it puts the seller in ‘pole position’ to buy their first choice home in 2016 – beating the rush and putting themselves in a stronger position compared to those who waited,” added Ian.
